Andoni Iraola's first summer at the Liverpool helm has been relatively slow-moving thus far. However, that looks set to change as the Reds target a return to Premier League title contention this coming campaign.

Liverpool have already made two substantial additions after Jeremy Jacquet completed his pre-agreed move to Merseyside. The £60million defender has been joined by the surprise signing of £34.5m winger Victor Munoz from Osasuna.

And there's more business to be done, too, as Iraola looks to stamp his own mark on the squad. Mirror Football has dissected the latest rumblings around Anfield this weekend as the English giants look to step up their efforts in the transfer market.

Liverpool may look to capitalise on Wolves ' relegation from the Premier League with a move for midfielder Joao Gomes. And the Reds have reportedly already made contact with his club to force the move.

Gomes, 25, was being touted for a move to Atletico Madrid before a disagreement with Jorge Mendes, who was brokering the deal, saw it called off. That could create an opening for Liverpool to steal in on the 10-cap Brazil international should they wish.

Brazilian outlet Globo Esporte has reported both Liverpool and Manchester United have sounded Wolves out over a deal. The pair have enquired about the cost of a deal, with the player said to be valued at around £38m.

United are already on the verge of adding to their midfield with the arrival of Chelsea anchor Andrey Santos. However, the club's move for Atalanta's Ederson is reportedly on the verge over collapse over concerns from his medical, which means they may still be in the market for an alternative.

Gomes holds a lot of appeal to Premier League clubs given his experience in England's top flight. The former Flamengo prospect maintained a strong reputation at Molineux despite the club's struggles in recent campaigns.

The engine room doesn't strike as an area in drastic need of a makeover at Liverpool. However, with Alexis Mac Allister being linked with a move to Real Madrid and Curtis Jones exploring a potential exit, that situation could change swiftly.

Liverpool are reportedly "not opening the doors" to Cody Gakpo leaving Anfield this summer despite interest from Tottenham . The Reds forward has been tightly linked with a move to north London but the Reds aren't looking to sell.

That's according to Fabrizio Romano, who has said Spurs' top target for the wing position is Manchester City's Savinho. Speculation around Gakpo's future has increased since the Netherlands ' exit from the World Cup, though it won't be long before he's expected to link up with the rest of Iraola's squad for pre-season.

Speaking on his latest transfer update, Romano said on his official YouTube channel : "Guys, my understanding is the main names to take into consideration for Tottenham for the winger positions are Cody Gakpo, but at the moment Liverpool are yet to open doors to an exit, and Savinho.

"Savinho is a top target for Tottenham. These two players are considered priorities for Tottenham for the winger position.

"I’m not saying they are joining, because this depends on negotiations, but Savinho is [target] number one, two and three because Tottenham already wanted one year ago. If you remember, in my videos I always told you this.

"Then Cody Gakpo is a desire of Tottenham but at the moment Liverpool are not opening the doors to an exit, so we have to be patient."
