Liverpool news: Barcola makes call on forcing transfer as new signing ruled out for the season

Andoni Iraola's first summer transfer window at Liverpool has been a mixed bag thus far but looks like it's set to heat up significantly. And the saga surrounding Paris Saint-Germain forward Bradley Barcola in particular has taken on a new form of late.

The Reds are still heavily invested in sourcing a successor to Mohamed Salah following his exit ahead of schedule this summer. Victor Munoz's £34million arrival from Osasuna has helped replenish the ranks, though more business is widely expected at Anfield.

There's less welcome news on the transfer front after one of this summer's fresh signings has been told he can't play this season. Mirror Football addresses all that in more detail as the Reds continue their pre-season tour of the United States.

Despite the promise of a Premier League move on the other side, France winger Barcola seemingly won't push his luck at PSG. It emerged on Sunday the 23-year-old has told his current employers he has no intention of signing a new contract at the Parc des Princes.

That seemingly applies beyond this summer after he rejected PSG's latest offering of fresh contract talks. And the current state of play certainly ramps up the pressure on his club to consider a sale if they're to maximise his sale.

Le Parisien has reported Barcola "will not force a move" from his home of the past three years. Further to that, it's not even clear if he has his heart set on leaving this summer, just that he's not interested in extending his current terms.

It's also alleged Barcola has already turned down an approach from Chelsea earlier this summer. And that too could bode well for the Reds, possibly hinting Barcola has a specific destination in mind.

Sky has upgraded its Ultimate TV and Sky Sports bundle to now include HBO Max, Netflix, Disney+, discovery+ and Hayu, as well as 135 channels and full Sky coverage of the Premier League and EFL.

In a way, Liverpool can only commend the player's resolve if Le Parisien's claims are true. Too often is it considered a straightforward get-out-of-jail card for a player to simply down their tools in a bid to land their desired transfer.

It may complicate things on Liverpool's end as one of their preferred choices to replace Mohamed Salah may prove even more difficult to recruit as a result. However, it suggests the former Lyon youngster is a man of principles as he seemingly won't pull any old trick to get a move.

After being rocked by Joe Gomez's latest injury setback in pre-season, Liverpool's defence has suffered another hit. That's after reports confirmed summer arrival Ifeanyi Ndukwe won't be able to play for Iraola this term.

The 18-year-old's £2.6m move from Austria Wien was confirmed in January but didn't officially go through until July. However, it may not be long before Ndukwe is heading back out of the exit if he's not allowed represent the Reds.

It's been confirmed Ndukwe hasn't met the threshold to obtain a work permit in the UK. In turn, a loan elsewhere looks all but inevitable for the teenager so that he can attain the necessary experience and become a viable option in the near future.

The development is a particularly damaging one in light of Gomez's injury, with fellow new signing Jeremy jacquet yet to make his debut and youngster Giovanni Leoni on his way back from a serious knee injury. The news also comes in the wake of Ibrahima Konate's free transfer to Real Madrid as Iraola looks to reshape Liverpool's backline this summer.
