World Cup winners to receive Super Bowl-style RINGS for the first time - with another 1,996 set to be sold off to fans
The winners of Sunday's World Cup final will be presented with Super Bowl-style rings for the first time ever.
FIFA revealed on Friday that it has manufactured 'bespoke championship rings', 30 of which will be presented to either the Spanish or Argentinian squads after the game in
New Jersey
.
The rings will feature an image of the golden World Cup trophy on one side, while the other will be customised after the final to 'reflect the identity of the winning team', the governing body said.
2,026 rings have been made in total, with 1,996 of those set to be put on sale for fans to purchase.
Winners' rings are a tradition in American sport. The team which reigns victorious at the
Super Bowl
each year are presented with typically rose gold diamond rings featuring the phrase 'World Champions'.
FIFA said today: 'One side of the ring proudly features the FIFA World Cup trophy, while the other will be customised to reflect the identity of the winning team. Each ring will be individually numbered, custom-fitted and delivered with its own certificate of authenticity.
The winners of Sunday's World Cup final will be presented with Super Bowl-style rings for the first time ever to honour their achievement

'Immediately after the final, the captain and head coach of the winning team will receive temporary rings to commemorate the occasion.
'Each of the 30 rings for the winners will then be customised before being officially presented at a later date, ensuring the perfect lifelong fit for an achievement that will echo through eternity.'
The ring revelation came after it was confirmed that Donald Trump will be in attendance at the MetLife Stadium when Argentina take on Spain for football's most coveted prize.
The US president has not been present for any of the previous 102 games this summer, though it had long been expected that he would attend the final.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino hinted last month that Trump will present the trophy to the winner, but White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt refused to confirm or deny whether that rumour was true.
It has become a tradition for heads of state to involve themselves in the World Cup trophy presentation. At the last Finals, the Emir of Qatar joined Infantino on stage after Argentina triumphed, while four years earlier Vladimir Putin placed gold medals on the shoulders of France's players after they beat Croatia.
And, only last year, Trump left Chelsea stars Cole Palmer and Reece James bemused by involving himself in their Club World Cup celebrations.
The political figure stood right by James's side as he lifted the trophy, sparking confusion amongst the Blues squad.

'Before, they told me he was going to present the trophy, and then exit the stage,' James said afterwards. 'I thought he was going to exit the stage, but I think he wanted to stay.'
Trump travelled from Washington to New York earlier today, and will attend a FIFA reception at his Trump Tower tonight.
The president's relationship with Infantino has been one of the most controversial talking points of this summer's World Cup.
After USA striker Folarin Balogun picked up a red card which meant he would miss his country's Round of 16 tie with Belgium, Trump asked FIFA for a 'review'.
Days later it was announced that the forward's suspension had been over-turned, sparking a furious reaction from pundits and ex-players. The US, despite the rescinded red card, ultimately went out of the tournament against Belgium the following day.
