FIFA adopt ‘iconic American sporting tradition’
Super Bowl-style championship rings will be presented to the winners of the 2026
World Cup
.
In addition to the famous golden
FIFA
trophy, winning players will be presented with a championship reminiscent of those awarded to Super Bowl and Stanley Cup winners.
FIFA say the custom jewellery will bring “iconic American sporting tradition to global football.”
The gold rings will be topped with blue gems and engraved with the words ‘FIFA
World Cup 2026
Champions’. One side of the ring will then carry an image of the
, and the other will feature a custom icon representing the winning team.

2,026 championship rings will be minted, 30 of which will be given to the
champions
The winning team will be presented with 30 of the 2,026 rings minted, each of which will be numbered and custom-fitted for players and staff, with the remaining 1,996 going on sale to the general public.
Players will be handed a temporary replica at full-time, which will later be replaced with their custom offering.
It is the first time a prize of this nature will be awarded to a
winner.
Championship rings are a fixture in American sport, and a customary prize for title winners at all levels of sport, from youth through to professional.
The introduction of these rings is the latest step in FIFA’s scheme to appeal to American audiences. It follows the addition of hydration breaks, which has shifted matches into a breakdown of four quarters rather than two halves,
and a half-time show at the final.
