England’s wait for a

World Cup

win will extend to at least 64 years after defeat to

Argentina

this week.

Thomas Tuchel’s side lost a hard-fought semi-final after conceding two late goals in Atlanta. Anthony Gordon’s effort had opened the scoring for

England

, but Enzo Fernandez and Lautaro Martinez turned the game around for the world champions.

Another

passes without success for the

Three Lions

, whose attention now turns to the 2028 European Championship on home soil, and 2030

.

The 2030

will celebrate 100 years of the tournament in an unprecedented centenary addition. Portugal, Morocco and Spain will co-host the 48-team finals, though opening fixtures will also be held in Uruguay,

and Paraguay, as the

spans three continents for the first time.

Uruguay were the first-ever

hosts and the opening fixture of the 2030 finals will be held at the Estadio Centenario in Montevideo, where the inaugural final was played.

All six

co-hosts will be granted automatic entry into the 2030 finals.

The tournament is officially scheduled to run from June 8th to July 21, 2030. It will be the longest-ever

, with added time due to the travelling involved across three continents.
