Tuchel will NOT follow Klopp's lead as he prepares to name England squad

Thomas Tuchel is ready to juggle his squad for the new-look Nations League campaign. But the England boss - who names his squad on Friday - is unlikely to follow Jurgen Klopp’s example after Germany named two separate sets of players for their four games.

Germany boss Klopp called up a total of 44 players for their games and the new extended international break might have gone under the radar of a lot of football fans. England will play FOUR games in TEN days as they will face Spain at Wembley on Saturday, September 26, then travel to Czech Republic three days later.

They will then travel on to Croatia for the third game on Saturday, October 3, and then play the Czechs again at Wembley on October 6. It means some Premier League clubs will not have a game for 21 days after this weekend before the top flight fixtures start again on October 10.

The idea is that there are just two international breaks this autumn rather than the usual three but condensing this round of games will raise alarm bells for some managers. They will not want their players to start all four games and Tuchel is likely to rest and rotate between the fixtures and also name a 23-man squad with an extra three or four players to make up the numbers.

International bosses are free to name as many players as they want - but cannot name them all in the match day squad for the fixtures. Tuchel has run the rule over in-form Palmer and the extended numbers may open the door for Bournemouth’s Alex Scott while Arsenal’s Myles Lewis-Skelly and Everton’s Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall have caught the eye.

Fulham’s Josh King is another who has impressed in front of Tuchel who has also got Rio Ngumoha and Lewis Hall on his radar. Ngumoha, Scott and King all went with England’s pre-World Cup training camp in Florida and it is understood they all impressed while Ethan Nwaneri went to Florida and has since gone to Borussia Dortmund on loan.

John Stones is set to miss out through injury after going off hurt for Inter Milan this week but Djed Spence has also been missing. Ben White is an injury doubt. Jordan Henderson and Dean Henderson are both out through injury.

Everton’s Jarrad Braithwaite has played well in front of Tuchel. Jason Steele looks set to be the third-choice keeper behind Jordan Pickford and James Trafford and that is likely to be a reward for the Brighton veteran who went with the squad to be part of the training set-up at the World Cup.
