Milei reacts to the criticism after losing the World Cup final: “The world is going to see how far a country full of Argentines can go”

The president responds to the alleged campaign against his country

Last Sunday, July 19, Argentina lost the 2026 World Cup final against Spain (1-0). A match in which Scaloni’s side did not register a single shot on target and in which, after the final whistle, Albiceleste players, such as Leandro Paredes, responded with aggression toward the Spanish footballers. An image that, together with the criticism over alleged FIFA favoritism, cast the South American country in a bad light.

Since Qatar 2022, many countries have questioned Scaloni's national team and point to controversial refereeing decisions in favor of Argentina and, especially, Leo Messi. After what was seen at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey and the fact that the majority across the planet supported Spain, Javier Milei's response was expected, as he was not present at the match.

Argentina's president, who had remained silent, has shared a post on his social media. It shows an image of the silhouette of his country with the colors of its flag and some forceful words: “Now the world is going to see how far a country full of Argentinians can go”.

Agustín Romo asks Argentina to be “truly bad” and begin the deportations

A statement that came just hours after Agustín Romo, a libertarian lawmaker and member of Las Fuerzas del Cielo, called on the country to attack the foreign residents living there. “Argentina is the only country in the world that gives foreigners FREE healthcare and education. And they come to trash us and accuse us of anything? That’s just fine. We have to cut everything off from them NOW,” he wrote.

In light of this, Romo made clear what path Argentina should follow from now on: “And deport everyone who is here illegally. Are we that bad? Let’s be truly bad.”
