Man United hold talks with representatives of France star Manu Kone as they look for third midfield signing after Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans

Manchester United

have held discussions with representatives of Roma star Manu Kone but have yet to agree on any terms with his club.

The 25-year-old, who made five appearances at the World Cup, is keen on a move to

England

and United have been evaluating various targets this month as they look for more energy in their midfield.

France legend

Patrick Vieira

was effusive in his praise of Kone while on punditry duty for

ITV

, outlining what he could bring to a new club.

'He had a really good season in

Serie A

with Roma. He came to the World Cup after a couple of injuries,' said the former

Arsenal

midfielder.

'He is for me today the best midfielder in France. He has mobility, he is aggressive, he is a ball-winner, and he has the technical ability to be part of the build-up, has the facility with the ball to break lines and move forward.'

Daily Mail Sport reported last week that Atletico Madrid and Arsenal have previously spoken to his representatives.

United have already added to their midfield this summer with the £48m signing of Chelsea's Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans, bought for £35m from Aston Villa. They want a third midfielder but cost will be key when it comes to which target they are able to secure.

They pulled the plug on a move for Brazil international Ederson after concerns over his medical, having agreed a deal before the World Cup. He has now signed a new deal at Atalanta.

Michael Carrick will be without Manuel Ugarte for a considerable period after he had surgery on a knee ligament injury suffered at the World Cup with Uruguay.
