England
captain
Harry Kane
has hinted at his desire to feature in another
World Cup
after his side’s semi-final heartbreak against
Argentina
.
The Three Lions' campaign ended in familiar fashion, as they conceded two goals in the final 15 minutes to suffer a 2-1 defeat.
Kane, who netted six times and became his country’s record
goalscorer at the tournament, will be 36 when the next
takes place in four years. However, the
Bayern Munich
striker drew parallels with 39-year-old
Lionel Messi
, stating he does not wish to "put a limit" on his illustrious career.
"It’s too early to talk about that. I mean, as a person, it’s always just about taking it year by year and how I feel," Kane explained. "The national team is my pride and joy. It’s what I love to do most, more than anything."

Acknowledging the significant time frame, he added: "Obviously, four years is a long way away. I’m 33 in the summer, but as you saw on the other end with Messi there, he’s still performing at the highest level. So, I never want to put a limit on these things. I’ll address every situation as they come, but for now it’s just about processing another tough loss with this team."
England are now set to play the much-criticised third-place play-off against France in Miami on Saturday, a fixture that will conclude their tournament on a sombre note.
However, the squad will regroup in just two and a half months to commence their Nations League campaign against
finalists Spain.
Reflecting on the immediate aftermath of the defeat, Kane expressed the team's profound disappointment.

"There’s not much to say for now," he admitted. "Everyone has to process what’s just happened. Everyone’s gutted. I’m gutted for all the boys, all the staff, everyone behind the scenes, because we know how much everyone puts into being a successful national team.
“And when you’re so close, when you’re 10-plus minutes away, and it slips out of your hands like that, obviously the lads are devastated. Now we just have to take it on the chin. There’s nothing we can do. We go away and try to improve."
