Christos Tzolis: Arsenal confirm £34m transfer for third summer signing

Greece international has signed a five-year deal

The 24-year-old has arrived from Club Brugge for a £34million fee, signing a five-year contract to his commit his future through until 2031.

He becomes Arsenal's third summer signing. The Gunners have already brought in goalkeeper Illan Meslier on a free transfer and made Piero Hincapie's loan move permanent.

Tzolis flew into London for a medical on Tuesday and put the final touches on his switch to north London.

He fills the gap in the squad left by Leandro Trossard, who completed his move to Besiktas earlier this month.

Like Trossard, Tzolis is a strong two-footed finisher. He plays primarily off the left wing but can be versatile across the front line.

Arsenal have identified him as a player who will raise the technical level of the squad in attack.

Tzolis scored 22 goals and provided 29 assists in 52 appearances across all competitions last season in Belgium, attracting interest from across Europe. Tzolis has been capped 34 times for Greece.

This will not be his first time playing in England, having been at Norwich for three years between 2021 and 2024.

Tzolis made 14 Premier League appearances in the 2021-22 season for the Canaries but did not score a goal.

The winger will join up with his Arsenal team-mates this week and should be able to hit the ground running.

Tzolis returned for pre-season training at Brugge earlier this month and featured in a friendly against Feyenoord, scoring a brilliant goal as he cut in off the left wing and curled a strike into the top corner.

Arsenal remain in the market for at least one more forward signing, with Tzolis' arrival not impacting the push for a more marquee arrival.
