NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C.
– The biggest summer AAU event tipped off this week at Nike’s Peach Jam with current NBA players and former NBA players coaching their club teams through pool play vying to make the playoffs.
Chris Paul is coaching his 17U program, Team CP3, Brad Beal is the head coach of his 16U team, Brad Beal Elite and Jamal Crawford is coaching his son JJ and the 16U team for NW Rotary. Beal and Crawford went head-to-head from the sidelines and it was Brad Beal Elite that edged out Crawford’s team 68-67. Paul George is here supporting his teams for PG Elite and Anthony Black is on the sidelines for every one of his younger brother Beckham’s games for his program, AB Elite.
Eight players across the EYBL are coming off a gold medal win in Istanbul at the U17 FIBA World Cup and haven’t been home in over a month. Beckham Black, Cayden Daughtry, A.J. Williams, NaVorro Bowman Jr., Mason Collins, Eric Dampier Jr., Asa Montgomery and JJ Crawford went from Team USA tryouts, to the FIBA World Cup, then straight to Las Vegas for EYBL Session 4 and their final stop being Peach Jam.
“I would say we’re all a little tired but this is what we’ve worked for the entire summer and I’m not going to slow down now,” Black told NBA.com. “I’m going to take care of my body and rest and do recovery but I’m here to win every time I step on the court.”
It’s been an exciting week as teams look to advance out of pool play. The semifinals and finals will be Saturday and Sunday at Riverview Park Center and live on NBA TV starting at 9am ET. Here are the top performers of the tournament through pool play.
Beckham Black, Class of 2027
Beckham is the younger brother of Orlando Magic guard Anthony. He is the newly minted No. 1 player in the 2027 high school class after Marcus Spears Jr., opted to reclass up a grade and commit to play two years at Texas (he is not Draft eligible until 2028).
Beckham has been consistently climbing the ranks since the end of his high school season at Southeastern Prep Academy and led Team USA in assists (8.4) and was second in points (19.1) during the gold-medal run.
Beckham marched into Peach Jam to back up his No. 1-ranked status and made a strong statement in AB Elite’s second game of the tournament where he finished with 37 points, five rebounds, four assists, three steals and one block in the 86-69 win over MeanStreets. He followed that up with 24 points and six assists in a win over Brad Beal Elite.
“It just goes to show the work he’s put in to be No.1,” Anthony said. “He’s really worked on his shot selection, particularly off the dribble, and gotten a lot stronger from last season.”
Beckham has an official visit set for Texas in the fall and other programs like Duke, USC, Georgetown, Michigan and Kansas are all in the mix.

A.J. Williams, Class of 2028
Williams is the No. 1-ranked rising junior and he’s playing up a division with Team CP3.
The 6-foot-8 wing led the U16 division in scoring during Session 1 of the EYBL and he quickly moved up a division to play for Chris Paul and his coaching staff. Williams started for Team USA in Istanbul and averaged 20.7 points in Las Vegas prior to coming down to Augusta. In his second game against Team WhyNot, Williams went off and finished with 32 points and seven rebounds in the win.
In the third game against Arizona Unity, he struggled offensively in the first half but found other ways to impact the game. In the 4th quarter, he scored 13 points, finishing with 17 total and added nine rebounds, five assists and two steals in the win. Even though he’s playing up, he recognizes the pressure that comes with being the No. 1 player in his class but says it’s only the stepping stone to his ultimate goal of being the No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft.
“Being No. 1 right now really doesn’t matter,” Williams said. “I want to be No. 1 when it’s draft day so right now, as a short-term goal, it’s cool but I want my name to be No. 1 when it’s called by the commissioner.”

Cayden Daughtry, Class of 2027
Daughtry led all players in scoring during the EYBL regular season, averaging 25.6 points per game. Listed at 6-foot, Daughtry is the leading force behind the Florida Rebels 13-2 record and why they’re 3-0 in pool play. He is so quick and dynamic with the ball in his hands and finds ways to get a shot off from anywhere on the court.
In his first two games at Peach Jam, Daughtry put up 32 points, nine assists and seven steals against Team Melo and then dropped 34 points, seven assists and three steals in a win over Team Thad.
Daughtry is the No. 9-ranked player in his high school class and has seen his recruitment heat up after a fantastic spring and summer AAU season. Miami, Iowa, Florida State and Michigan are all making him a priority.
“There are glimpses of Trae Young and the way he played when he was this age,” one NBA scout said. “Just in his speed and size and his shot creation is very comparable to Trae when he was this age a year away from playing at Oklahoma.”

Lewis Uvwo, Class of 2027
There is no better story in high school and grassroots basketball than Uvwo. He went from ranked 96th in his class to the No. 6 player in the country in just five months. This is his first AAU season and he joined Prolific Prep (Florida) mid-season last year after moving to the states from Nigeria. He’s a former player from the NBA Academy Africa and is the best rim protector in high school basketball.
Uvwo led the EYBL in blocked shots and in a crucial win over Team Herro, Uvwo finished with 10 blocks, 10 points and nine rebounds for Nightrydas Elite.
“I just love playing this game and I love making plays at the rim on both ends of the court,” Uvwo said. “I’m just trying to show all the coaches and scouts here that I’m more than just a rim protector and that I can dribble, pass off the block and knock down shots.”
Prior to the EYBL season, only BYU, UCLA and Florida State had offered the 6-foot-10 center. Now, every high-major program is getting involved with Duke and Kansas being his most recent offers.

NaVorro Bowman Jr., Class of 2027
Bowman is the son of former NFL All-Pro linebacker NaVorro Bowman. His son elected to pursue basketball instead of football and the athleticism has carried over. Bowman is one of the best defending guards in high school and the advancements of his offensive game are making him a dynamic two-way player.
It was a wild finish when he squared off against his USA teammate Williams and Team CP3. Team WhyNot was down 12 with two minutes to go and Bowman scored 10 points in the final 30 seconds, including three consecutive tough 3-pointers from beyond NBA range. His team came up short in the 86-82 loss but Bowman was the star of the game, netting 33 points (including seven threes), five assists, four rebounds and two steals.
Bowman is ranked 16th in the incoming senior class and holds offers from UCLA, USC, Arizona, Cal, Stanford, Indiana and others.
