Alexis Mac Allister has joined the growing list of Argentine players breaking their silence following Argentina's defeat to Spain in the 2026 World Cup final, sharing an emotional message on social media that also included a response to the Albiceleste's critics.

The Liverpool midfielder, who returned to Argentina with the rest of the squad after finishing as World Cup runners-up, took to Instagram to thank the fans for their unwavering support while delivering a message of unity and resilience for the future.

"We were so close... that's why it hurts so much. But no one can take away everything we experienced during this World Cup. What you made us feel was extraordinary. We had to suffer, we faced adversity, but we overcame it TOGETHER. Please never forget this: TOGETHER we are stronger than anyone."

The 2022 World Cup champion accompanied the message with a photo from the final at MetLife Stadium.

Mac Allister, who started seven of Argentina's eight matches during the tournament, also reflected on two moments he says will remain with him forever.

"Just as I'll never forget that day in 2022 when we celebrated with the World Cup trophy through the streets of Buenos Aires, this tournament also gave us unforgettable images that show the incredible bond between the fans and this national team."

The midfielder reserved special praise for the unwavering support of Argentine fans despite the heartbreaking defeat.

"The first moment came when we received our runners-up medals and the Argentine fans inside the stadium started singing at the top of their lungs. Family, friends, and supporters made every other celebration fade into the background. The second was the welcome we received in Buenos Aires. Despite the rain and the cold, nothing could overshadow the love for our country and this team. Excuse my language, but you're absolutely crazy—and we love you for it!"

The 27-year-old also shared a message of hope inspired by a reflection from his mother, María Silvina Riela.

"Let's cry because we're Argentines and we always want to win. But after we cry, let's get back up, stay united, and keep moving forward because this journey isn't over. My mom reminded me of an old saying: 'Don't be afraid of a game that offers a rematch.'"

To close his letter, Mac Allister thanked everyone who supported the team throughout the tournament and delivered a pointed message to those who celebrated Argentina's defeat.
